Newgrounds

Posted by Jack-Hoo - January 22nd, 2023

Good evening, guys.

Hope you are all doing great tonight. I just wanted to make a brief journal before going to stream another session of doodling shit.

For a couple months now I've been been posting my art to NewGrounds as an alternative gallery. I have been tired of Twitter's BS, as well as DA, and been trying to reach more people in more sites, also as a safety measure in case any of my other platforms goes down at any given moment.

I have also been trying to correct my perception in content creation as a whole, to stop prioritizing numbers so much and try to focus in the joy of just creating, I think that explains a bit why I have been enjoying so much cooking and gardening lately IRL.

Still. After 5 months in Newgrounds, posting art on the site has been a complete disaster. The numbers there are quite pathetic. I have more art posted than pictures faved by others. And the reception I have received hasn't been quite a friendly one either.

And please, this is not me saying that NewGrounds doesn't work or that is a bad site, I'm just saying that it didn't work FOR ME. Me, Jack, is the one that doesn't vibe with NewGrounds.

The site seems to be more designed towards people who do animations or games, which I unfortunately don't do.

So, where do I go with this? Should I even bother anymore with Newgrounds? Or should I just cut my losses and move on to another site (If you know any website where you think I could expand to, please let me know in the comments.).

Anyway, just a little thing I wanted to put out there showing my experience with NewGrounds. Thank you very much for reading my rambling, and as I mentioned, if you want to come see me doodle more shit, please come to my picarto for a short stream.

No reviews, no posts, "Posted using Postybirb", not scouted (likely because of all the photographed, uncolored art). A little bit of community interaction goes a long way. Not being scouted makes you hard to find. Being hard to find makes you hard to scout.
